If you travel overseas you need a Tri-Band Cellular Phone (900-1800-1900 MHz) like Motorola V300/V600, Sony-Ericsson T610. GSM Frequency in US is 1900 MHz while in the rest of the World is 900-1800 MHz. The “SIM Card” is the phone’s extractable Chip where the phone number and the company information is stored. When you travel abroad you must also ask the operator to get an “Overseas Authorization” as well as the “SIM UK Code” so you can unlock your phone to accept any SIM card. You can then switch your T-Mobile SIM card with a more convenient prepaid local one belonging to the country where you are going. Once back to US you can put back the original SIM card.
