AN INTRODUCTION TO GROUP THEORY

Fall 2019 Welcome to the Methods Of Theoretical Physics, II, web site. This course deals with group theory and its implementation in physical systems. Group theory is the theory of symmetry. Most physical systems cannot be completely solved. However, symmetry principles can still reveal important information. In the course we will learn about group theory with the goal of applying it to problems in quantum mechanics, particle physics and condensed matter physics. The material is intended to be self contained and no profound mathematical prerequisite is necessary.
